Bachelor of Theology (by Advanced Placement)
Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of Theology degree (B.Th.) is only available by advanced placement as a top-up program to approved ordination training programs. The University maintains a list of approved ordination programs. The religious degree may be awarded with merit or distinction. Suitably approved candidates are exempted from 90 of the 120 credits required to obtain a bachelor's degree. The course of study is of 30 credits duration. The standard of scholarship required is that of a final year undergraduate. The focus of the B.Th. is on a scholarly undergraduate dissertation of 10 to 15,000 words. The degree may be awareded with merit or distinction. Should a candidate fail to meet the required satisfactory standard for the award of the B.Th., after written resubmissions or a retake of the oral presentation, it is likely that the candidate will be awarded a Diploma in Theology (Dip.Th.) as the terminal award.

1) UNIXXX--Recognition of Prior Study (90 credits)
2) THL401--Supervised Writing or Practicum (6 x 3 credits)*
3) THL404--Supervised Dissertation (12 credits)
4) THL406--Presentation and Defense of the Dissertation (0 credits)
*Old Testament (up to two papers may be selected from different aspects)
New Testament (up to two papers may be selected from different aspects)
Dogmatics (up to two papers may be selected from different aspects)
Canon Law
Church History (up to two papers may be selected from different aspects)
Comparative Religion
Liturgy and Worship (up to two papers may be selected from different aspects)
Marriage and the Family
