Academical Dress
The University has adopted the following academic dress regulations for its degrees:
Gowns
1. Bachelor
Shape: pointed sleeves, front pleats and is untrimmed. Color & fabric: black stuff.
2. Master
Shape: oblong sleeve, open at the wrist. The sleeve base hangs down in the traditional manner. The rear part of its oblong shape is square cut, and the front part has an arc cut away. Front pleats. The gown is untrimmed. Color & fabric: black stuff.
3. Doctor
Shape: full bell-shaped sleeves. Color & fabric: black stuff worn with three sleeve bars and front panels of black velvet, finished with gold piping. Front pleats. An option is to wear the black gown with the three sleeve bars and front panels in the velvet color of the degree discipline, e.g. pink for the D.S.M. The black gown may also be worn without gold piping.
4. Doctor (full-dress)
Shape: full bell-shaped sleeves. Color & fabric: crimson red stuff worn with three sleeve bars and front panels of black velvet, finished with gold piping. Front pleats. An option for doctoral recipients is to wear the full-dress crimson red gown with the three sleeve bars and front panels in the velvet color of the degree discipline, e.g. scarlet for the Hon. D.D. or pink for the D.S.M. The full-dress gown may also be worn without gold piping.
5. Graduate Diploma of Studies
As for Master's.
6. Fellows and Officials
As for doctorates. The gown of the University President has an additional fourth bar on the sleeves.
Hoods
1. Bachelor
Bachelor's hoods are of the Wales simple shape with a split-salmon cut. They are three feet in length. The shell is black and the hood is satin or silk lined in golden yellow with a royal blue chevron. The hood is trimmed in velvet, two inches in width, according to the specific degree awarded:
Bachelor of Ministry (B.Min.)
Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.)/Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sacred Music
Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.)
2. Master
Master's hoods are of the Wales simple shape with a split-salmon cut. They are three and a half feet in length. The shell is black and the hood is satin or silk lined in golden yellow with a royal blue chevron. The hood is trimmed in velvet, three inches in width, according to the specific degree awarded:

3. Doctor
Doctoral hoods are of the Wales simple shape with panels attached to the sides to be worn cape like. They are four feet in length. The shell is black and the hood is satin or silk lined in golden yellow with a royal blue chevron. The hood is trimmed in velvet, five inches in width, according to the degree awarded. The shell of the hood may also be bordered with golden yellow:

4. Diploma
Graduate Diploma of Studies (G.Dip.St.)--A diploma holder is permitted to wear a master's gown without a hood or the hood of another degree, licenciateship or fellowship (whether awarded by JHPCU or elsewhwere).
5. Fellows and Officials
A Fellow (F.Univ. ) or Official is considered to be of doctoral status in the University and may opt to wear the hood of a Doctor of the University (D.Univ.).
Hats
1. Bachelor--black mortarboard with black tassel.
2. Master--black mortarboard with black tassel.
3. Doctor--black velvet tam with gold bullion tassel. Eight sided preferred. A mortarboard with gold tassel is optional.
4. Graduate Diploma of Studies--black mortarboard with black tassel.
5. Fellows and Officials--black velvet tam with gold bullion tassel. Eight sided preferred. A mortarboard with gold tassel is optional.
